Business Card Design Guidelines
Business Card size
US Business card size: The standard U.S. business card size is: 3.5" × 2" Your final trimmed card will be cut to this size.
However there are plenty of different sizes that are available in market for example

Bleed Area
Bleed Area: is extra artwork that extends beyond the final trim size. If your design includes a background color, image, pattern, or other elements that should reach the edge of the card, they must extend all the way to the bleed line.
Add 0.125" (1/8 inch) bleed on all four sides of your design.
Artwork file: 3.75" × 2.25"
Safe Area
Safe Area: is the part of a printed design where all important elements should be placed to prevent them from being accidentally cut off during trimming.
Keep all important information at least 0.125" (1/8 inch) inside the final trim line.
Important elements include: Names | Phone numbers | Email addresses | Website addresses | Logos | QR codes | Small text | Important design elements
For the best results, it is recommended keeping critical content within approximately: 3.25" × 1.75"
This helps prevent important information from being cut too close to the edge during trimming.
Image Resolution
For high-quality printing, all images and artwork should be created at a minimum of: 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch)
Low-resolution images may appear blurry, pixelated, or unclear when printed.
For best results:
Use high-resolution images
Avoid screenshots or small images downloaded from the internet
Do not enlarge a small image beyond its original size
Make sure your artwork is 300 DPI at the final print size
Color Mode
For the most accurate printing results, we recommend designing your artwork in: CMYK Color Mode
RGB colors are designed for screens and may appear different when printed.
Please note that colors displayed on computer monitors, phones, and tablets may vary from the final printed product.
Fonts & Text
- To avoid font changes or missing fonts : Convert fonts to outlines when possible Or flatten/export your final artwork as a high-resolution PDF
- For small text, avoid using extremely thin fonts, especially for light-colored text on a dark background.
- It is recommended a minimum text size of approximately 6 pt, depending on the font style.
- Always make sure you check the spellings, phone numbers, website, email ids and address for spelling mistakes and typos
QR Codes
If your design includes a QR code:
Make sure the QR code is clear and high resolution
Avoid placing it too close to the edge
Keep sufficient white space around the code
Test the QR code before submitting your artwork
Pro tip: Do not generate the QR code using a trial period, as once the trial period expires you will have to purchase the subscription of the QR code generator in order to keep the QR code active.
Final Design Checklist
Before uploading your business card design, please make sure:
✓ Final card size is 3.5" × 2"✓ Artwork includes 0.125" bleed on all sides✓ Full artwork size is 3.75" × 2.25"✓ Important text and logos stay inside the safe area✓ Images are at least 300 DPI✓ Artwork is designed in CMYK color mode when possible✓ Backgrounds and images extend to the bleed line✓ Fonts are outlined or embedded & QR codes have been tested✓ Final artwork has been reviewed for spelling and accuracy
